Introduction
Konichiwa. My name is L. G. Michael Brown, but please call me “Mike.” I was born and raised in Menominee, Michigan in the Upper Peninsula. I have a BA in Political Science from Miami University (in Oxford, Ohio), and was an exchange student in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in my senior year. I have served in the U.S. Navy and have traveled extensively throughout Asia and Europe – I love to travel! Following my time in the Navy, I earned my master’s degree in Teaching (MAT in TESOL) from the University of Southern California (USC). I taught many international students in an English language program (called HELP) at the University of Hawaii (UH) from 2013-2018. I earned a Doctorate in Education from USC in the Hawaii cohort program (2017) while continuing to teach at UH. I later taught in Japan with the University of Maryland Global Campus where I taught writing composition, business, speech and communication, grammar, and library science/research on various U.S. military campuses.
